What type of prom gown is best for petities?

I'm 5'0 and thin with a slightly larger bust. From what I've read online, short dresses would look best on me. But I want to wear a long gown, because nobody in town really wears short dresses to our prom. What type of long gown would look best? A tighter, sleeker one, or maybe one that hangs more loosely? I'm looking for whatever will flatter me most and maybe make me appear a bit taller. Help!!!
